The open day on the 24th June 06 has turned out to be a great success. The weather was perfect with a clear blue sky and a warm summer’s day.
We have received many good comment and reports; it seems that it was an enjoyable time for all, thanks for taking the trouble to contact us.

New Benninghoven Coating Plant for Moons Hill Quarry
The old Moons Hill asphalt production plant, commissioned in 1973 had limited production output and required significant investment to allow the Company to discharge its responsibilities in the future on environmental performance, and meet the increasing demands of its customers. To maintain our objective of seeking continual improvement in Financial Return, Service, Technical, Environmental and Health & Safety performance we needed to either make this investment or replacement with a modern more productive unit.
The Company’s board examined carefully a business plan which outlined various options to develop the business. It finally agreed to approve the building of a new plant to allow the Company to satisfy one of its main priorities, ‘Customer Service’. The new larger plant would allow for improved vehicle turn-round and enable the business to take advantage of any order opportunities that the older plant was not capable of.
This substantial investment enables the Company to discharge its environmental responsibilities with confidence, not only now, but for the foreseeable future. The project included a one mile gas supply line installed at a cost of £300,000 to further lower any plant emissions.
To achieve the mix specifications, production targets and the environmental criteria necessary a Benninghoven model TBA240U asphalt plant, equipped with a 4000 Kg mixer was selected. Capable of delivering a wide range of standard and specialised mixes, the plant has a production output of over 200 t/h of dense binder course and 120 t/h of Stone Mastic Asphalt.
