Wainwright Surfacing has been involved in a vast range of projects, from historical sites such as Cheddar Gorge the historic City's of Salisbury and Bath and Frome's new Community Hospital.
Following a competitive tendering exercise Wainwright Surfacing was thrilled to be awarded the prestigious contract for resurfacing and reconstructing the busy St James Street in Bath. Working closely with the client Bath and North East Somerset Council the scheme execution was planned to the finest of details ensuring that the continuing flow of traffic was maintained throughout the works, offering as little disruption as possible.

The schemes key element was to repair the cellar roofs that lie just beneath the surface of the road along St James Parade. Continual heavy tracking and the action of time had caused the cover slabs to degrade leaving the cellars prone to water ingress, extensive reflective cracking of the carriageway and a very real potential for collapse. A specialist repair method was used entailing the introduction of a rapidly expanding cementitious foam grout introduced through a matrix of small holes drilled through the surface in a pre determined pattern. After exhaustive testing to ensure the damaged slabs had been absolutely secured Wainwright proceeded with preparing the road for resurfacing.

Surfacing works, which took place on consecutive Sundays, utilised top quality Hot Rolled Asphalt surface course produced at Moons Hill, due to its exceptional longevity and highly impervious nature. Road marking and ancillary works were combined with the surfacing and the contract was successfully completed, defect free, 3 days ahead of programme.
