John Wainwright & Co Ltd have remained an independent family owned company for over 100 years. This is because our Basalt Aggregate is unique to the area and we have built up considerable experience in the production of our products. The aggregate we produce is known as Hardstone and is used for the surface course, the top layer of the road surface. You will find more information on this subject within the site.

These pages are for general interest, and to help our many visitors from schools with further information. For the hard-bitten professionals, in the technical section, test certificates such as PSV can be viewed and printed, this can be useful when its time to fill in those tenders.

What has the picture got to do with Wainwright, well its a part of the quarry which we no longer use, so we made a fishing lake, surrounded by a small woodland.
